2024 Vets' Playing Rules

2024 WINGHAM LOCAL VET RULE REMINDERS :

( NB. At times Covid-19 Variations may apply ? See latest Covid-19 requirements )

 

1. STARTING YOUR ROUND OF GOLF FROM THE 6TH TEE:

 

Asking groups to start their game from the 6thTee is designed to help us finish our competition event as soon as possible, but for this to work it requires the co-operation of our members.

            Rules for members to help make this a success:

 

  1. Groups teeing off from the 6th, must NOT do so if a group is approaching the 5th green, but may follow them if no other groups are approaching the 5th green.

  2. Maximum of 4 groups only to tee off from 6th tee.

  3. Groups from the 6th tee, upon reaching the 10th tee, should be allowed to follow any group already on the 1st tee.

  4. Groups still waiting to tee off from the 1st, will follow the 6th tee groups alternatively.

 

Members should use common sense, patience and courtesy at all times.

 

2. BALL MOVEMENT DURING A COMPETITION EVENT:

 

  1. Usually 30cm thru. the green, but check Local Board before tee off ? 

  2. Movement due to unplayable lies and hazards come with a penalty; GUR, embedded ball, staked trees & pathways with NO penalty.

  3. Relief from dirt patches allowed. Nearest point, ball only, then 30cm rule may be applied.

  4. Tees or lifting grass as an artificial tee, thru. the green, is NOT allowed.

  5. ANY BALL MOVEMENT OTHER THAN WITHIN THE RULES (as stated above )WILL INCUR A PENALTY ( usually stroke ) CONTINUED INFRINGEMENT AN OFFICIAL WARNING & FURTHER PENALTIES ( disqualification from the event ).

 

 

3. RAKING OUT SAND BUNKERS AFTER USE:

 

    All bunkers must be raked out after use, and the rake placed back in the bunker stand.

 

4.HOLES 8, 14 & 17 (OBE’s; 36+handicappers & players where HANDICAP + AGE = 95+):

(NB. This rule ONLY applies to players with a handicap of 19 or greater)

MAY hit off the LADIES EQUIVALENT TEES on Holes 8 & 17; and the MENS 5th WHITE tee on the 14.

 

5. ANY PLAYER HITTING THE LADIES METAL HAND RAIL ON HOLES 4 & 13, MAY HAVE A                                

   SECOND TEE SHOT, NO PENALTY.

 

6. HOLES 8 & 17 ‘ DROP ZONE ‘ NOW APPLIES: ANY PLAYER hitting a ball into the dam MAY:

               Either 1. Hit their 3rd shot from the original tee,

                    Or             2. Hit their 3rd shot form the ‘DROP ZONE’ ( between the markers on the LADIES EQUIVALENT TEE, with the ball dropped from knee height and hit as it lies )

 

7. CART SIGNS ( ONLY IF PLACED ON THE FAIRWAY ) interfering with your shot to the pin. You may move your ball to obtain clear line NO PENALTY. Cart signs must not be moved.

 

8.  FOR A MEMBER TO QUALIFY FOR THE VETERANS’ CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS:  

     They must play a minimum 6 competition events prior and in the same year.

 

9. READY GOLF RULES APPLY AT ALL TIMES in order to speed up play.

It is every playing group’s responsibility to stay up with playing group in front.

Players should watch where their partners balls go. Maximum 3min ball search.

Putt with the flag in. Maximum of 40 seconds per shot ( tee to green ).

As a player putts out; they should move on to the next tee. Don’t wait.

Walk to your ball rather than wait to be driven.

 

       2019 READY GOLF RULES NOW APPLY:

  1. Drops - knee (NOT shoulder height)

  2. Drop length - measure with longest club (NOT putter)

  3. Drop relief – no closer to hole.

  4. Lost ball search – 3 minutes (NOT 5 min.)

  5. Accidental ball movement – replace NO penalty

  6. Double hit – single shot, NO penalty.

  7. Accidental hitting of you or your equipment after shot – NO penalty

  8. On green - hitting flagstick while in hole – No penalty

  9. On green - spike and shoe damage – can be repaired.

  10. On green - ball accidentally moves – replace, NO penalty.

  11. Putting, ball moved by wind – replace, NO penalty.

  12. Hazards – can ground club, practice swing and remove loose objects – NO penalty.

  13. Bunkers – can remove loose impediments.NO penalty.

  14. Bunkers – cannot touch sand or with practice swings.

  15. Bunkers – unplayable ball, can drop outside bunker – 2 shot penalty.

  16. Embedded ball (at least part below ground) – on fairways or in rough – free relief.

  17. Out of Bounds – replay shot – 2 shot penalty.

  18. Maximum 40 seconds per shot

 

10. WET WEATHER RULES ( when they apply, check Local Rule variations ):

      Carts maybe asked to stay on paths at ALL times and players MUST walk to their ball.

      Cart 90° rule may apply for balls on opposite side of fairway. Check Local notice boards first.

      Common sense MUST apply at ALL times to MINIMISE COURSE DAMAGE .

      Ball maybe lifted, cleaned and placed back in the general area

 

11. MAT GOLF RULES ( when they apply, check Local Rule variations ):

Mats must be used at all times through the green, except when using a putter. Players may choose their own mat.

      There is NO BALL MOVEMENT, except to lift your ball, place your mat and return your ball to  

      its general original position.

      Mats must NOT be folded to create an artificial tee.

      NO MATS to be used in HAZARDS. A player can take hazard relief ( with a penalty ), then a   

      mat may be used.

 

12. COVID-19 RULES ( when they apply, check Local Rule variations ):

At times our government may apply social distancing rules to our golf for public health reasons.

These may vary, at times, in accordance with government requirements.

      VETS GOLF ‘SOCIAL DISTANCING’ GUIDELINES :

 

  1. Staggered starts 6.50 to 7.40am only (No Shotgun)

  2. Players MUST enter Pro Shop ONE at a time.

  3. Players MUST bring CORRECT MONEY.

  4. Competition cost = $20

  5. Players will mark their OWN card.

  6. Both players scores should be recorded.

  7. Club carts will cost $13, if one person restriction applies.

  8. Club carts must be sanitized before use.

  9. Sanitized spray provided by club.

  10. Maintain a 1.5m spacing at all times.

  11. No flag stick to be removed for putts.

  12. Bunkers are treated as G.U.R. Ball relieved in bunker.

  13. Bunkers are to be levelled with your foot &/or club. No rakes.

  14. There will be NO NTP’s.

  15. No handshakes, foot or elbow touch only.

  16. Players must sanitize their hands at end of game.

  17. There may be NO competition presentations.

 

Members should understand that these rules are designed to allow every player to compete on a level playing field, without any person/s gaining an unfair advantage. Enjoy a fast, friendly, honest game with your mates !

13.  9 HOLE COMPETITION:

Beginning on 22nd March 2023, there will be a 9-hole competition for those players who, for one reason or another, cannot or do not wish to play 18 holes.

When you report to the starters you must nominate that you are only playing 9 holes (and you cannot change this if you are having a good round).

These cards will not go to Golf Link but will be checked manually by the captain.

Cost will still be $20 but carts will be $13.

If there are 2 players or more then the winner gets $10 plus another $10 if he betters his handicap.

If there is only 1 player, that player can win $10 if he betters his handicap.
